Collaborate Design Studio in Deerfield will be celebrating its fifth anniversary in January 2008. To mark the occasion, the interior design studio chose not to send out the “token” holiday gifts to clients this year. Instead, donations in the names of Collaborate Design’s clients were made to charitable organizations. Each of the four charitable groups was chosen for their significance to either one of the designers or a client. “This year we wanted to do something special – we wanted to ‘give back.’ We chose charitable organizations which have special meaning to us,” says Tracey Duffy, COO and founding partner of Collaborate Design Studio. Hand crafted cards adorned with designer trims were distributed to clients from the past nearly four years announcing the selected charitable organizations. Collaborate Design Studio was founded on the basis of a team approach to work, whereby the designers collaborate with their clients and each other to offer the best solutions for design. In addition to the three founding partners, Duffy, Linda Eisenberg, and Cheryl Kling, Collaborate Design has grown to include seven additional designers and staff members. “Because we work together closely, we are able to answer questions, share ideas, and keep a project moving forward,” says Duffy. “This is how the name of the firm emerged. We want our clients to experience the teamwork that is involved in their project.” Collaborate Design handles both residential and commercial projects, as well as new construction and remodeling. In their short time of existence, Collaborate Design has won awards from the Illinois Chapter of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) for interior designs that they have created. With regards to giving back, “We look forward to be able to do more, especially in our community. We are going to sponsor a softball team for the Deerfield Youth Softball and Baseball Association this spring. We feel fortunate that the business has had this much success in a relatively short period of time,” says Duffy.
